Maintenance simply involves cleaning with a damp cloth – once sealed, the surface is much less porous and therefore extremely hygienic since it does not absorb bacteria, mould, or stains.

Granite is arguably one of the most beautiful stones you can use for your home – it comes in such a huge range of colours and you are certain to find a type to suit your taste and décor. Granites are typically white, pink, or grey, but have a number of other inclusions depending on the make up of each particular piece. These can include large or small grains, or even veins of colour throughout the surface.
Once polished and sealed, granite will retain its finish for a lifetime. However, if you are not looking for a highly polished, diamond finish you can choose honed or leathered textures instead.
Hygienic
Once sealed, granite becomes considerably less porous which means it makes a perfectly hygienic surface for the kitchen or bathroom. The igneous rock is formed through cooling and solidification of magma, which makes it almost impenetrable for bacteria (unlike many sedimentary rocks, for example) – adding a sealer maintains a sealed exterior and ensures that your granite is clean, fresh, and stain-free. We recommend re-sealing paler colours more often to maintain their finish.
Granite worktops typically come in large slabs, rather than individual tiles, which means that it is more hygienic than tiled surfaces since there no grout lines to scrub or absorb germs.
Long-lasting
By the time your granite worktop is installed in your home, it is already thousands of years old, and will likely last another thousand. It is tough, scratch resistant, and since it’s an igneous rock it can also handle incredibly high temperatures – considerably higher than anything you will experience in your kitchen. Cutting on a granite worktop will not damage it, but it is likely to blunt the knife. Your granite worktops will last a lifetime.
